How To Help Hurricane-battered Texas And Florida

How to help hurricane-battered Texas and Florida

It was only last month that we blogged about Protzman Law Firm’s commitment to community service.  The need for assistance extends well beyond our community; now more than ever. Two monster hurricanes have battered Texas and Florida in recent weeks and the Atlantic basin is still active. Hundreds of thousands are without power, clean drinking water or even a home. The devastation is so far-reaching that it’s jaw-dropping.  It left us wondering what we could do from Kansas City to help others get back on their feet.

We compiled a short list of easy ways to help.  If your motivation is helping displaced children, homeless pets or stocking food pantries, we’ve got contact information for you to offer help.  Dig deep and help those less fortunate!  We know we will be doing just that.  Continued thoughts and prayers to those in Texas, Louisiana, Florida and across the southeast.

Donate Blood

The American Red Cross is in DESPERATE need of blood donations as a result of the natural disasters.  Your gift could save up to 3 lives.

Donate New Underwear

People always donate used clothing, but never new underwear to go with it. Here’s how:

Here are two ways to give new (still in package) underwear. Please keep in mind that a variety of sizes are needed for men, women, boys, and girls, including XXL.

Donate Diapers by Clicking on Amazon

The Texas Diaper Bank needs donations!!! For those of us watching this devastating situation on our televisions and unfortunately can’t volunteer in person, we can help by sending them what they need. They have registered on Amazon so they have made it really easy to donate through the link:

Texas Diaper Bank Disaster Relief Wish List

This isn’t a registry just for babies, the senior citizens there need help too. Every bit helps.

Help the Animals by Donating to one of These Organizations

The Humane Society of the United States Animal Rescue Team provides response to natural disasters. They have volunteers, equipment, and rescue vehicles currently working from Texas to Florida and the Atlantic coast.
The ASPCA is on the ground with search-and-rescue, sheltering and relocation teams. They are asking for monetary donations or membership within the organization to support ongoing rescue efforts.

Consider adopting locally– it frees up space for displaced animals coming to KC from the south.  Donations of dog food and blankets are always appreciated by local shelters, too!
